Default 1st Gen Outback Offroad Build

Hey guys

So I'm doing a 1st Gen Subaru Outback offroad build. I bought this '97 Subie off of a surf buddy for cheap (they didn't want to put anymore money in it so I sold them a new Impreza Sport Wagon). I only had to put a speed and o2 sensor in to get it to pass smog.. So now I'm into this for $1,1xx. I knew that it needed some things in addition to just getting it to pass smog so I decided to overhaul it and build it up. Exterior is in excellent condition considering it's age, I had the interior reconditioned as it had some surf wax in it, so a steal all the way around for a stock 1st gen ! I'm planning on taking this animal to some pretty epic places and I'm active in many sports like surfing, snowboarding, MT biking, photography (amature), and adventuring.

Right now I'm in the first phase which is to replace much needed suspension and tires (parts listed below). So while I'm doing that it's getting a lift and some off road goodies as well. Following the lift, tires, suspension, and offroad kick off parts will be the tranny to support this... and then who knows what and that's the exciting part about it.

I'm going to throw up some "before" pictures so we can benchmark the progress. I have the 1st phase parts as they just finished coming in so it shouldn't be long before I post some pictures of the install and finished work to get it lifted and offroadable.

I'm pulling from my 330hp 16' Stage 2+ WRX *Sponsors* and with some help from some new ones. I have to give them mad credit for helping me and making all this possible!! If it wasn't for them I wouldn't be able to do half the things that I do. (see below for links and check them out!!!)

Looks super clean for its age; nice negotiating!! **subscribed** and excited to watch its progress.

Do any local shops specialize in offroad/knobby tire alignments?

Hi Maiko,

The shop that is doing my build (LSpec Auto | 1 424-241-2078 Mobile) will be doing my alignment at the same time that we install the BFGoodrich Ko2 All-Terrain Tires and Suspension. I'll for sure let you know how that goes!

Yes it was a great deal from a good friend that wanted to keep it "in the family" and I couldn't be more grateful to them!!

Thank you for the follow and I'll make sure that I make this as detailed and informative as possible.

Cheers,

TK

Seriously!!! I heard JDM swaps are cheap on this car! Let me know if you get it.. I also have action at a 96' that was parted out after being totaled. I'm pulling the tranny, axles, and driveshaft off of that among other nick nacks.
