The girl driver, the awesome builder (psssst: John at Corner Speed Tuning ), and the Honda-owner boyfriend grabbing lunch after the show.

Which Subie was yours? I'm pretty sure I took a photo of it.

Long time, no update.

Ran Buttonwillow 1CCW a few weeks ago. I'm running about mid-pack with HPDE 3 (aka, no longer the slowest monkey out there!). I kept pace with one of the main instructors in his Focus ST. Goal it to keep up with the slower HPDE 4 guys at the next event.

Some of the glamour shots:

How to tell I'm getting faster:

New parts!

After hearing more than my fair share of motor detonation stories, I asked John what could be done to help the overall reliability of my car since it sees its fair share of much harder driving on the track than the average WRX. He recommended installing an air oil separator to compliment the added benefits of the already monstrous intercooler.

I'm by no means a mechanical expert and don't have the ready ability to wrap my brain around the science behind how exactly the AOS works, but do understand the general principle. In simple terms, the AOS removes excess oil vapor in the combustion chamber. Normally, oil vapor can mix with fuel in the combustion chamber, bringing down the relative octane rating of the fuel which causes excess stress on the motor and decreased power. In my case where the WRX sees some gnarly engine temperatures from the track, having all available power is vital along with helping the lifetime reliability of the car since it's also my daily.

Here are more expertly written articles explaining this:

How to Avoid Piston Failure

Best STi Air Oil Separator
